All About Wedge Life
Wedge Life was founded in 2022, but the story really started much earlier.
I grew up in a family rooted deep in snowmobile culture. My first sled came when I was 14 — a 1986 Indy 400. I only had it for a couple years, but it fueled the fire that never really went away.
Fast forward to 2015. I jokingly told my mom I wanted a snowmobile for Christmas. Well… Wedge Life’s mom (and dad) is the coolest — and sure enough, an XLT showed up. That sled, even though it was technically an evolved chassis, is where Wedge Life was truly born.
The package deal actually included two sleds — the XLT and an Indy 440. At the time I had absolutely no idea how to work on snowmobiles. I didn’t even know how to remove an airbox. With some help and a lot of learning, I got them running right.
The following summer I bought my first true wedge chassis since that old Indy 400 — a 1998 XC 600. At the time I didn’t even realize it had been one of the top performing 600-class sleds of its era. It was just cheap and local.
The sled needed a few parts, so I went looking… and found entire sleds for the same price as the parts I needed.
That’s when the idea hit me.
Why not just buy the whole sled and part it out?
Soon I was buying every $200 sled I could find across Western New York and parting them out. Before long, the garage was full and the collection kept growing.
Around 2018 I got into snowmobile drag racing and managed to win a few rounds. That lit another fire.
That same year I picked up a parts sled that had some old-school chrome dash plates. I remember thinking, I could probably make these. After a little research and experimentation, Indy Dash Plates was born.
By 2022 it was time to take things further.
Originally I planned to keep the Indy Dash Plates name, but it felt too limiting for the bigger ideas I had in mind. I wanted something that represented the entire era and culture surrounding these machines.
That’s when Wedge Life was created.
At first I had a friend draw up a simple black and white logo that said Wedge Life / Indy Dash Plates. But the ideas kept coming. I bought a drawing program and taught myself how to create my own artwork — all while still parting sleds, building sleds, racing sleds with my dad, and riding sleds.
Before long the sled fleet had grown into the double digits.
The Wedge Life Facebook page was growing steadily, but things really took off when I started sharing reels from my TikTok account. Suddenly the community exploded — 5,000 followers… 10,000… 30,000… 50,000 and beyond.
With the website and merch store growing alongside the community, Wedge Life quickly turned into something bigger than I ever expected.
In the fall of 2022 I also made my first trip to Haydays,( with some peer pressure from friends) the largest snowmobile event in the world. I had never even flown before — but I hopped on a plane by myself and went. Since then it’s become a yearly tradition.
Today Wedge Life attends snowmobile events across the country, supports snowmobile racing, and continues growing the community that makes this culture so great.
And now, in 2026, we’ve taken another step forward by picking up our first kids sled to give away, helping introduce the next generation to the sport that started it all.
Wedge Life is about more than machines.
It’s about the culture, the garage builds, the races, the community, and the people who keep these sleds alive.
And hopefully the future of Wedge Life is just getting started.
